{"id":107,"date":"2011-07-02T11:40:42","date_gmt":"2011-07-02T11:40:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/denleymusic.com\/primaryblog\/?p=107"},"modified":"2011-07-02T11:40:42","modified_gmt":"2011-07-02T11:40:42","slug":"i-love-to-see-the-temple-primary-singing-time-ideas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.denleymusic.com\/ldsprimary\/?p=107","title":{"rendered":"I Love To See The Temple &#8211; Primary Singing Time Ideas"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.denleymusic.com\/ldsprimary\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/Building-a-Temple-July-Friend-2011.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-108\" title=\"Building a Temple July Friend 2011\" src=\"http:\/\/denleymusic.com\/primaryblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/Building-a-Temple-July-Friend-2011-210x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"210\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a>Our song for the month is &#8216;I Love to See The Temple&#8217;.\u00a0 I&#8217;m sure most of my Senior Primary children know it, and perhaps 1\/4 of my Junior Primary Children know it.\u00a0 There is still some work to be done.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m going to play four corners with my primary children.\u00a0 This is how it works and what you need:-<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>FOUR CORNERS GAME<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>I have used <a href=\"http:\/\/www.jollyjenn.com\/ILovetoSee.pdf\">this<\/a> flip chart because of the layout.\u00a0 I need each verse of the song divided up into 4 sections.\u00a0 Use this flip chart or one of your preference.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Put the four sections of the first verse (or second if you are reviewing that verse) up &#8211; one on each of the four corners of the room.<\/li>\n<li>To avoid confusion with your pianist, print out a copy of the music (found here:\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/lds.org\/churchmusic\/detailmusicPlayer\/index.html?searchlanguage=1&amp;searchcollection=2&amp;searchseqstart=95&amp;searchsubseqstart=&amp;searchseqend=95&amp;searchsubseqend=ZZZ\">I Love To See The Temple Sheet Music<\/a> ) and number each section &#8220;1&#8221;, &#8220;2&#8221;, &#8220;3&#8221; and &#8220;4&#8221; so &#8220;I love to see the Temple, I&#8217;m going there someday&#8221; will be section 1, &#8220;To feel the Holy Spirit, to listen and to pray&#8221; will be section 2 etc.<\/li>\n<li>If you don&#8217;t want to the put the words up, just type and print giant &#8220;1, 2, 3, 4&#8221; numbers on paper and blue tac those to the walls.\u00a0 I did this as well as the words and it worked beautifully.<\/li>\n<li>I have each class (with the help of their teachers) choose a corner to stand in.<\/li>\n<li>I roll a die (with 5 and 6 blacked out).\u00a0 The class in that corner have to sing the song up to and including that part of the song.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Variations:-<\/p>\n<p>1. Have only the teachers move around the room and choose a corner.\u00a0Roll the die and the teacher\/s standing in that corner are affected; all\u00a0the Primary children, or the children of that teacher&#8217;s class (your choice)\u00a0need to sing the song up to and including the corner that teacher has chosen to stand in.\u00a0 If the children sing it wrong, the teacher(s) in that corner\u00a0is eliminated.<\/p>\n<p>2. Have the children move to the corners with their class but each corner has to sing &#8216;their&#8217;\u00a0 words up until the corner that you rolled on the die.<\/p>\n<p>*<strong>Post edit<\/strong>* I had the children of the teacher that was &#8216;chosen&#8217; come up the front to &#8216;save their teacher&#8217;.\u00a0 I haven&#8217;t heard our Jnr Primary sing so beautifully.\u00a0 They all really wanted their teacher to stay in the game, and the teachers joined in the fun by saying &#8220;Save me class&#8221;.\u00a0 There was no calling out, it was still done reverently yet everyone was engaged at the same time.\u00a0 Definitely one to play again.\u00a0 Oh, and we didn&#8217;t have time to &#8216;Build a Temple&#8217;.\u00a0 I&#8217;ll do that next week when we learn verse 2.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>BUILD A TEMPLE PUZZLE<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>I am also going to have the children come and sit down again if we have time, and we are going to build a temple class by class.\u00a0 The children will need to\u00a0sing a section of the song (with their class up the front), and if they are correct they get to put up a piece of the temple puzzle, found here: <a href=\"http:\/\/media.ldscdn.org\/pdf\/lds-magazines\/friend-july-2011\/2011-07-00-friend-eng.pdf\">http:\/\/media.ldscdn.org\/pdf\/lds-magazines\/friend-july-2011\/2011-07-00-friend-eng.pdf<\/a>\u00a0(WOW July 2011?\u00a0 That hasn&#8217;t even arrived on my shores yet!)\u00a0 I have cut out and laminated the temple puzzle pieces.\u00a0 They are not numbered, so the children can pick and choose whichever part they want.\u00a0 The big hint is that the darker grey goes on the bottom!<\/p>\n<p>If we don&#8217;t get to this one, that&#8217;s okay.\u00a0 We can do it the following week.<\/p>\n<p>Anyways, those are my two ideas for tomorrow.\u00a0 If my Senior Primary don&#8217;t need to do as much revision, I will pull out one of my &#8217;emergency&#8217; singing times that I have prepared just for such an occasion.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Our song for the month is &#8216;I Love to See The Temple&#8217;.\u00a0 I&#8217;m sure most of my Senior Primary children know it, and perhaps 1\/4 of my Junior Primary Children know it.\u00a0 There is still some work to be done.
