{"id":341,"date":"2012-01-01T08:13:14","date_gmt":"2012-01-01T08:13:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/denleymusic.com\/primaryblog\/?p=341"},"modified":"2012-01-01T08:13:14","modified_gmt":"2012-01-01T08:13:14","slug":"happy-new-year-with-a-truth-or-consequences-game","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.denleymusic.com\/ldsprimary\/?p=341","title":{"rendered":"Happy New Year with a Truth or Consequences Game"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I spent about 10 mins teaching the Primary children our 2012 song.\u00a0 I had them learn the chorus.\u00a0 Then I sang the verses, and they joined in each Chorus.\u00a0 The children didn&#8217;t find it an overly exciting song, but I&#8217;m sure it will grow on them.<\/p>\n<p>Our poor Primary children are coming off their sugar high from Christmas, so I gathered they were going to be a somewhat rowdy bunch today.\u00a0 Yup, I was right.\u00a0 Good thing I had organised to do a Truth or Consequences game that I found here: <a href=\"http:\/\/basicprimarymusic.blogspot.com\/2010\/10\/truth-or-consequences.html\">http:\/\/basicprimarymusic.blogspot.com\/2010\/10\/truth-or-consequences.html<\/a><\/p>\n<p>I adapted the game a little in this way:-<\/p>\n<p>You need:-<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Truth or Consequences action cards<\/li>\n<li>Printout of questions to ask with songs (don&#8217;t forget to give a copy to your Pianist so they can find the songs easily)<\/li>\n<li>Whiteboard Marker or chalk if you have a chalkboard<\/li>\n<li>Co-operative and enthusiastic teachers\/Primary presidency<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>How to play:-<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ask a child to come up the front to play.\u00a0 Ask them a really easy question.<\/li>\n<li>If the child gets the question correct, draw a smiley face up on the whiteboard.<\/li>\n<li>If the child answers the question incorrectly, they have to choose a consequence card.<\/li>\n<li>Sing the song (with the consequence action depending on the outcome).<\/li>\n<li>Ask a teacher to come up the front.\u00a0 Ask them a really hard question.<\/li>\n<li>If the teacher gets the question correct, draw a smiley face up on the whiteboard (no teams &#8211; it&#8217;s just fun to collect smiley faces).<\/li>\n<li>Usually the teacher will need to choose a consequence card, or they can have on of their class students choose one for them.<\/li>\n<li>Do the song with the consequence action.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We had an absolute blast playing this game.<\/p>\n<p>It is a game that could be played any week this month as it goes fairly well with the theme.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I spent about 10 mins teaching the Primary children our 2012 song.\u00a0 I had them learn the chorus.\u00a0 Then I sang the verses, and they joined in each Chorus.\u00a0 The children didn&#8217;t find it an overly exciting song, but I&#8217;m sure it will grow on them.
