{"id":701,"date":"2011-01-15T17:37:33","date_gmt":"2011-01-15T07:37:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/denleymusic.com\/wordpress\/?p=701"},"modified":"2011-01-15T17:37:33","modified_gmt":"2011-01-15T07:37:33","slug":"holiday-music-camp-younger-beginners-piano-1-hour","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.denleymusic.com\/musicblog\/holiday-music-camp-younger-beginners-piano-1-hour\/","title":{"rendered":"Holiday Music Camp &#8211; Younger Beginners (Piano) &#8211; 1 hour"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The outline for my younger beginner piano students was as follows:-<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Game<\/span><\/strong>: Snap with Bug Flash Cards (found on Susan Paradis&#8217; website) here: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.susanparadis.com\/catalog.php?ID=SP814\">Large fly flash cards<\/a>\u00a0and here for the ones on the keyboard: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.susanparadis.com\/catalog.php?ID=SP612\">Keyboard Fly Flash Cards<\/a>.\u00a0 We played Concentration\/Memory, and the students used large green fly swatters when they got a match.\u00a0 It was a hoot!\u00a0 I would change one thing though&#8230;towards the end we realised my flash cards were see through.\u00a0 Thank goodness the students didn&#8217;t cheat at the beginning!\u00a0 Looking back, I would have liked to have also done a Note Swap Race, but we had fun and learned things anyway.\u00a0 Note Swap Race instructions are here: <a href=\"http:\/\/susanparadis.wordpress.com\/?s=flash+cards\">Note Swap Race instructions<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Game<\/span><\/strong>: Cover the Keys Bingo (also found on Susan Paradis&#8217; website) here: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.susanparadis.com\/catalog.php?ID=SP583\">Cover the Keys Bingo<\/a>.\u00a0 We used white board markers and laminated game board for this.\u00a0 We played a couple of rounds of this game.\u00a0 If you had students without allergies and who didn&#8217;t bounce off the walls with sugar, you could use skittles or M&amp;Ms as markers.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Activity Song<\/span><\/strong>: Dr Knickerbocker (from a CD I have)\u00a0 Students had to pair up and do the actions with me.\u00a0 They giggled LOTS during this song.
